The First "Girls Day Off"

Hannah and I took a road trip to visit my very dear friend, Jill. We've been the best of friends since 5th grade but haven't gotten to spend much time together since high school. We've only had brief visits of a few hours each in the past few years so this was a great opportunity to spend some quality time together with our girls! She's one of those friends though that you just seem to pick right up where you left off the last visit...just like no time has passed at all! She was in from Pennsylvania visiting her parents in Kerrville. She brought her 2 daughters, Sadie and Tessa, to hang out with Grandma and Grandpa while older brother Tyler spent the week at Cowboy camp...more on that in a bit!
So Hannah and I loaded up and made the 5 1/2 hour drive down to the hill country. We had a blast! At the suggestion of my road-warrior dad, we took the back roads all the way down. The scenery was absolutely beautiful and Hannah loved seeing all of the horses, cows, deer and goats along the way.
Jill and I had a great time catching up and the girls had a blast! Sadie and Hannah are two princesses in a pod. They are both true girly-girls all the way! They loved playing dress up, having tea parties, swimming in Ba and Poppy's hot tub, feeding the deer (they came right up to the back porch -- 17 at one counting), watching princess movies, playing at the bounce house...you name it, they did it! Even Tessa joined in some of the princess action...and that's not usually her style! You would have thought that the little girls were the old friends the way they got along. And the big girls enjoyed watching a new generation carry on an old friendship =)
**A note on the title of this post: Hannah has taken to calling our girls-
only outings our "Girls Day Off". Whether it's a trip to the store or a trip across Texas, it's a Girls Day Off!!**
